Instructions for AP Physics Daily Labs

You must have the following information in your daily lab write-up. It will be done on paper. Remember, you must write each question followed by each answer (or ten point penalty). Remember to include the appropriate units.

  1. Include the normal lab heading at the top of your lab.
  2. Problem/Hypothesis (5 pts) Remember - a laboratory investigation answers questions. What question(s) did this lab answer or what did it seek to find or prove?
  3. Materials (5 pts)0
  4. Procedure (10 pts) - you will write your own procedure describing the steps that you followed to collect data. It must be written in a form such that one can reproduce your experiment by following these steps.
  5. Data (10 pts). Include ALL data collected, usually in tabular form.
  6. Analysis of Data (25 pts)- Include a sketch of any graphs you did on a graphing calculator, labeling axes and including your regression equation written using the appropriate variables. OR, include your graphs on graph paper showing slope calculations and with axes labeled. Include any percentage error calculation in this section when appropriate. For example, if a theoretical value can be determined for your correspondng experimental value, I will expect these calculations to be included.
  7. Error (10 pts). State at least one systematic and random errors, identifying each error as to type.
  8. Questions (30 pts) Include your answers to your questions. Your must answer in complete sentences, when appropriate. Remember to write each question followed by each answer.
  9. Conclusion (10 pts). In your conclusion, simply answer your problem/hypothesis. Was your hypothesis accepted or rejected? Why was it accepted or rejected?
