Weekly Schedule for IB Physics SL & HL

2008 IB Exam Schedule

HL Physics students must do take two option exams. One will be Optics; the other will be The History & Development of Physics. Optics will be covered in class; The History & Development of Physics will be an independent study section. Here is the on-line summary for The History & Development of Physics. (password required).

Here is a study guide for The History & Development of Physics (password required).

Another very good resource for IB2 students (especially for help with their study guides): HyperPhysics

Important IB Resources:

  1. This site is an excellent on-line physics tutorial. It explains concepts in easy-to-understand language in a step-wise fashion. It has a section that allows you to hone your skills by graphing problems, recognizing forces, identifying vector magnitude and direction, and practice vector addition. It also has a section called Multimedia Physics Studio that has applets and animations that enable you to "see" physics concepts that might be difficult for you to understand. It is also the source of the class problems for IB 1. If you need extra help understanding something, especially at the first year level, this is the place to go!
  2. Free on-line graph paper generator (please read hints at bottom). Also includes link to log paper.
  3. IB Syllabus Guide
  4. 2008 IB Data Booklet
  5. 2009 IB Data Booklet
  6. My lab criteria information. All lab criteria are listed, with an explanation of requirements for aspects (complete, partial, and not at all ). This is a very important handout and should be consulted for every laboratory report written! Password required to open document.
  7. My course information for IB SL & IB HL. Password required to open document.
  8. My suggestions for how to write an IB lab report. Password required to open document.
  9. How IB criteria labs are graded.
  10. Grade distribution for the 2004 SL and HL exams. (password required)
  11. A grading rubric that tells you exactly how my IB labs are graded (password required).
  12. IB 2 students must maintain a copy of their Form 4PSOW (password required) for the 2007-2008 school year. This must be kept in your personal file in the classroom. You must fill in the lab title, the objective(s), and date on the day the lab is performed. When the graded lab is returned, you must fill in the criteria grades that you received. If I write the statement "this lab can be considered for submission for ***** " on it, record those criteria grades and highlight them. Graded labs must be kept in your personal file in the classroom.
  13. IB 1 students must maintain a copy of their Form 4PSOW (password required) for the 2007-2008 school year. This must be kept in your personal file in the classroom. It will be your permanent record of the laboratories performed during this school year. This must be kept in your personal file in the classroom. You must fill in the lab title, the objective(s), and date for the day the lab is performed. Graded labs must be kept in your personal file in the classroom.

Due Dates for Assignments:
